New York's Advertising Club Elects 6 New Board Directors at 118th Annual Meeting

The Advertising Club of New York, a professional organisation that represents the vision and mission of the global advertising industry, honoured 12 members for Outstanding Support and named 6 new board directors at the 118th Annual Meeting of the Members. The meeting was held on Wednesday evening (the 23rd of July) in the Sky Room at the New Museum, where Laurel Rossi, Board Chair and President of Havas Worldwide Strat Farm, and AD Club President & CEO Gina Grillo honoured new and retiring Board members, and recognised the recipients of the President's Awards, the Club Key Award and the Rising Star Award.

The new elected board directors were AOL's senior vice president of east coast sales, Brad Elders, Yahoo's vice president of North American sales, Mark Ellis, vice president of global brand strategy at Mondelez, Eliza Esquivel, Google's industry director, Scott Falzone, vice president of global sales at Facebook, David Lawenda and Olivia Farr, senior vice president and senior account director at BBDO. They will be working together with the existing members of the board on accelerating the “i'mPART” initiative, which promotes diversity in business. Rossi believes that the board, included their latest members, “Reflects the club's commitment to promoting bravery in business.” She says that “Their leadership in creativity, diversity of thought, and the business innovations to their credit are fantastic,” and feels that the board also “Represents an amazing cross section of companies changing the face of marketing. She says that “Each and every board member wants to make a difference and is committed to supporting (the AD Club's) mission to propel the industry forward."

The AD Club also used the opportunity to recognise recipients of the 2014 President's Award. This award is granted to those who have shown a great deal of commitment to the AD Club, and have demonstrated outstanding volunteerism. Recipients of the award this year include Droga 5's Carly Bennett, MediaLink's Jordan Edelstein, Microsoft's Kristin Ogdon, and Verizon's Diana Zaccardi, amongst numerous others from various agencies and brands. Rick Song, the global head of media solutions at ZEFR was also presented the Club Key Award for outstanding volunteer service and Emily Goldman, manager of content operations at Vimeo, took home the Rising Star Award.

The AD Club also used the opportunity to recognise the recipients of the 2014 President's Award, Club Key Award and Rising Star Award

Of this year's award recipients, Grillo said the club members' dedication to their shared mission is “An integral part of (the AD Club's) ability to unite professionals around a shared experience and exchange ideas for best practices in the industry." She adds that "Each of this year's award recipients represents the integrity and passion that strengthens (the advertising) industry year after year,” and says herself, and the rest of the club is “Proud to recognise them for the important role they play."

Benjamin Hiorns is a freelance writer and musician from Kidderminster in the UK who has never won an award (to his knowledge). He wouldn't have room on his mantlepiece anyway.
